The Board: The tiles are acrylic. For support, each tile will be on a larger acrylic. Solvent will be used to fuse the tiles to each other and the larger acrylic. Not sure yet how the three main levels will attach to the arms, but I would like to have them screwed into place. The top of the tiles will be covered with a thin crystal clear acrylic. This is to help secure permanently the magnets from ever coming out.
Cut-away view showing the bottom cover and magnet.
The Rook: The first piece I designed was the pawn. It made an easy test for the bottom cover, the magnet, and for painting. The next game piece is the rook or "tower." It's a really straight forward model without a lot of structural changes from the pawn. Can't wait to start printing this one!
