So, what is all this Dio Noir stuff? What's up with the aliens?

Simply answered, Dio Noir is the DioWarriors brand of action figures. There are several themes planned, the first being "conspiracy."

Dio Noir: Conspiracy introduces aliens into the 1:18 scale action figure market. These are not movie aliens, but the type of aliens reported by real people, painted in cave paintings, and spoken about in folk tales across almost every culture on Earth. Conspiracy takes the dark view that there are some governments that officially deny and obscure facts and reports, and this obscuration must have a reason. Is something being hidden? If so, what can warrant a government, or individuals, even politicians, to access vast resources to conceal and even intimidate? And if that reason is because of a threat, which then is the greater evil: the humans with the hidden agendas or the thing that is being obscured? This is what Conspiracy is about.

Dio Noir: Conspiracy introduces a world beyond the elite fighting teams most action figure brands have. Many brands try to replace one elite fighting team defending the world from a terrorist organization with another. It's a formula. In the action figure market today there are many elite teams fighting against terrorist groups. But Conspiracy is different. If you are a collector then you most likely have your own favorite toy brand and most likely it is an elite military team. But Conspiracy does not seek to replace any team with another, instead Conspiracy seeks to challenge your favorite team not only with direct conflict, but also from within.

With Conspiracy the threat that challenges your favorite team are the humans themselves -- leaders with agendas -- secrecy in government. There must be a reason to obscure reports. What might that reason be? And what might the next secret mission involve? What will your elite team do if confronted with a conspiracy? A very real and dangerous threat are the humans led by those in power who have an agenda. The humans are both the antagonist and protagonist: dark, secret projects, shadow governments, corrupt politicians, secrets someone in power doesn't want revealed, these are the threats that your elite teams must confront. It's a challenge of loyalty, honor, and devotion to duty.

Meanwhile the aliens are real and the threat they represent are real and direct. They have an agenda of their own. How they execute their agenda is up to you. Are there more than one alien species influencing Earth policies? What of the "men-in-black"? Where do they get their orders from, and to whom do they answer to? What of reverse engineered alien technology? Where are the humans getting the guidance to reverse engineer? Are there two agendas from two competing alien species? And if so, is there a common direction humanity is being guided to?

As you can see, the scope for Dio Noir: Conspiracy can become involved and has the potential to take your action figures into the dark world of shadow governments and beyond the confines of Earth.

Here are some ideas:

A fireball crashes in the woods and the team is deployed to the site only to discover there's another team already deployed and recovering the craft and bodies.
A secret base is examining an alien recovered from a crashed ship. The alien escapes and your team is deployed to secure the area.
Your team has received orders for special training for a mission in low orbit. During training it becomes known the mission does not involve Earth or even the solar system.
The leader of a world terrorist organization has gone missing. The second in command is able to pin point his location -- in high orbit on an alien space craft. A rescue party is put together to retrieve their leader.
A team member uncovers classified material accidentally. The next day mysterious "men-in-black" visit the team and start to ask questions. The team member becomes frightened and makes a run for it. The team is dispatched to bring him back before the "men-in-black" do.
The sniper in your favorite elite team is given an order to assassinate a civilian politician. The sniper, being a professional, is troubled by the order. The target is not even human, but the sniper doesn't know this. It becomes a moral dilemma that affects other members of the team.

DioWarrior Alien

Have you seen the DioWarriors logo? It's an alien. We're going crazy over the alien, and why not? Aliens have been a part of both real world and sci-fi for centuries. But we like them for the simple reason that aliens are techno... they are futuristic; using technology so advanced it might as well be magic. Look at an alien and all sorts of things come to mind: space, dimensional travel, time travel, mystery, secrets, government, survival, and fantastic wonders -- all the things that make great dios and dio stories.

Sure, you can have any of those things for a good story and diorama, but there's something about an NTBO (non-terrestrial biological object) with super science bridging all the possibilities together. With an alien calling the shots from behind the scenes of society stories can be written about exploring other worlds, even other timelines, or crossing dimensions from universe to universe. This is ideal for mixing toy lines that share the same Earth, such as a mythological action figure in a fantasy world. But more about these things later.

Mouse Pad

Concerning DioWarriors, aliens offer a blank slate that we seek to fill. We're developing a new approach to all our props. This stems from two things: very high resolution 3d printers and more reliance on injection molding. So you will see design changes creep in all the props, and a bunch of newer props (already being made.) In a way we're phasing out the old. So if you like what we have right now, now is the time to get them before those designs are gone.

But, getting back to the topic of aliens, you'll also be seeing more of them, much more. This is all we're going to say on the topic for now.
