Customizable Barrels

​Warped and dented barrels, another DioWarriors project, offered a level of customization not typically found in the toy prop market.

​In toy dioramas, it's common for barrels to appear identical, having been cast or copied from the same source. Enthusiasts of 1:18 scale customization and dioramas frequently scour discount stores for toy sets that include barrels. Among these, two types are particularly coveted: a large 50-gallon metal barrel and a smaller counterpart. The larger barrel features small dents to enhance its aesthetic, and both are crafted from tough plastic. Casters often replicate these barrels, resulting in varying degrees of quality. But essentially these barrels all appear identical -- except for paint schemes -- they all have the same style.

The barrels were not designed for customization beyond painting or drilling holes. Creating dents in them would entail significant effort, more than what would be justified. It was these constraints that led DioWarriors to release barrels that could be easily customized.

The DioWarriors barrel is a 3D printed prop designed to be customizable with a hairdryer. These barrels are simple to modify, accept paint readily, and are affordable. They are also straightforward to manufacture, featuring a removable lid and base. Dimensions are provided, enabling enthusiasts to create custom attachments and enhancements for incorporating the model into their distinctive diorama displays. A collection of DioWarriors barrels can serve as an intriguing backdrop or even as a prominent prop when placed close to the camera.
