This hand drill is loaded with detail, much of which is not easy to see without being painted. So we do recommend painting this prop. See the Assembly Guide for painting info.
This 3D resin handles most paint well, but some paint can take a long time to dry. Lightly sanding the handle and other areas where a figure will hold the prop will enable the paint to adhere better.
