Men-In-Black:
The Underground Base
An underground/under-the-ice cavern is discovered in Antarctica. The cavern contains an abandoned base constructed by the Nazi's during the second world war. The base is only accessible by submarine. The cavern itself is naturally formed by geothermal activity under Antarctica lakes. It has been discovered that Antarctica does have a number of land-locked lakes that have been frozen over, but the lakes themselves are kept above freezing through volcanic vents. Over time excess freshwater have carved tunnels through the Antarctica ice to the ocean. Many of these tunnels are only accessible through submersible vehicles.
During the 1930's the Nazi's have sent many exploration teams to Antarctica. At one point reports of success and of maintaining an impenetrable fortress for the Third Reich is mentioned. Many scientists and military personnel are sent to Antarctica, as well as a small fleet of u-boats. Construction equipment is sent as well. To this day no one knows where in Antarctica they were sent to, and no one had heard any more from the them since.
In this story an expedition discovers the ruins of a Nazi base under the ice in a cavern heated and powered by geothermal activity. Equipment, structures, and u-boats are discovered. No signs of the scientists or other personnel. Further investigation reveals this base was used to test and build the prototypes for Nazi Germany's UFO projects, specifically the Haunube saucer ships.
The Story:
The story opens in a modern day city. Members of an expedition team, military, are disappearing, possibly being killed, and no one knows why. Maybe people do know why, but no one is talking about it, reports are being made, but there's no followup. The story flash backs to an expedition to Antarctica several months before where researchers exploring the cold waters off of Antarctica find large tunnels formed by warmer water from an inner lake
somewhere in the land-locked area of the Antarctica continent. The warmer water indicates geothermal activity and the researchers are excited because it could mean the discovery of new species of marine life isolated for millions of years. Such discoveries have happened, but are rare. For the researchers this is a good find.
Teams are sent into the tunnels and one returns with an interesting find: a tunnel opens into a large cavern.
A team of new soldiers are dispatched to the expedition. They are lead by Men-In-Black. Security is tight and everyone is bound to secrecy.

NTO
An NTO officer is pixelating some photos of the Moon's surface. It's a boring job, but easy, and he has nothing to complain about. It can be worse, he could be on patrol duty on the surface, which he wouldn't want to be, since there's been a sandstorm for a week thus far. It's much more pleasing to be inside doing mundane work like adding low quality filters to high quality photographs. Somewhat ironic too that no one on Earth is complaining that the space agencies can publish high definition photos of distant stars and nebula, but not publish high definition of anything concerning the Moon.
Then, of course, is the secrecy of his lifestyle. Like others with him, he was born on Earth, but now he lives off world and rarely ever visits Earth. Only once before he had a mission that brought him to Earth's upper atmosphere, but being on the ground, no. Not any more. It wasn't surprising either, but expected. He is an NTO, a "non-terrestrial officer" after all, which means anywhere but Earth is his home. No communication with Earth, nothing, except to receive orders and that's handled by someone far up the chain of command. It's a second life, or more accurately, a second humanity. Since the 1950's the governments of the world came to agreement that the threat of extinction from outer space was very real. Roswell was the turning point: scientists got hold of working UFO tech and one surviving alien to interrogate. Reverse engineering alien technology was difficult, but unlike previous times, 20th Century man had the technology to finally begin to understand the tech and make responses to it. For example, UFO flight from the Roswell craft included interpretation of the alien thought through a head device and some physical controls. Human scientists were able to build a work-around for a human pilot to control the craft. It wasn't sleek or nice to look at, but as time went on, so did the improvements to the human design.
Now jump several decades ahead and humanity have stationed teams of researchers and military with no connection to Earth other than the past. The primary mission is to protect the Earth from alien threats, but also to pave the way for humanity to the stars so that when the people of Earth do venture to space, they will find that dangers have been identified, allies made, and worlds mapped. And who takes the credit of all this? The United Earth Government, the UEG.
